About

My College Kitchen began with a simple observation.

After nearly two decades working with high school and college students, I realized many young adults weren’t struggling because they didn’t care about nutrition—they were struggling because no one had ever taught them the practical skills to shop, cook, and make confident food decisions.

At the same time, nutrition advice online became increasingly confusing. Students were surrounded by conflicting information, unrealistic expectations, and social media influencers with little scientific training.

The more students I worked with, the more one thought stayed with me:

Someone needs to change this.

After carrying that idea for more than ten years, I finally realized…

Perhaps that someone is me.

My College Kitchen exists because every student deserves evidence-based nutrition guidance that is practical, approachable, and grounded in real life—not perfection.

A Letter from Our Founder

Dear Reader,

If someone had told me when I was your age that one day I would truly love myself and have a healthy relationship with food, I’m not sure I would have believed them.

For a long time, food felt like an enemy. It became a place where I directed my anger, my grief, and my pain. Looking back, I realize I wasn’t really fighting food—I was struggling to find myself.

It’s easy to spend our lives wishing we were someone else. Someone with more money. More beauty. More talent. More followers. A different body.

But comparison steals something incredibly valuable: the opportunity to discover who you were created to be.

We all have unique strengths.

Some of us are built to run fast.

Some are built to lift heavy.

Some love being surrounded by people.

Others thrive quietly behind a computer or in a laboratory.

There is room for all of us.

So, stop comparing.

Start living.

Food isn’t just about calories or appearance.

Food brings people together.

It connects families around the dinner table.

It celebrates friendships.

It comforts us during difficult seasons.

It nourishes our bodies.

It energizes our minds.

It fuels our sports.

It supports our dreams.

Food is so much more than numbers, labels, or what’s on your plate.

It’s one of the ways we care for ourselves and the people we love.

And that journey begins in the kitchen.

Not with perfection.

Not with expensive ingredients.

Not with complicated recipes.

But with simple foods, shared meals, curiosity, and the confidence to keep learning.

My hope is that My College Kitchen becomes more than a place to find recipes.

I hope it becomes a place where you learn to trust yourself.

A place where you discover that healthy eating doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful.

And a place that reminds you that your worth has never been determined by what’s on your plate.

I’m so glad you’re here.

In good health,

Kristen
